The city tour begins with a visit to the National Museum in the Royal Palace. Afterwards go to the oldest temple in the city, Wat Xiengthong, the roof of the building extends almost to the ground, very characteristic of the classical architecture of Laos. Admire the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the sanctuaries of Wat Aham and Wat Mai.

Climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for a splendid panoramic view of the city and the Mekong River at sunset.  Try your luck bargain hunting at the Night Market where hill-tribe vendors gather and sample the local food offered along the street side.

Embark on a cruise upstream on the Mekong River.  Along the way, stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, home to renowned producers of the local rice alcohol. Visit Ban Xienglek and Ban Xangkong, the villages of handmade jute paper making and continue taking a short drive to Ban Phanom, a village well known for its hand weaving.

Participate in the daily morning rituals of saffron-clad monks collecting offerings of Alms from the faithful residents. Visit the morning Phosi Market. Then drive to the beautiful Khouangsi Waterfall to cool off with a refreshing swim in the turquoise pools or walk along the forest trails.
